CHRISTMAS PARADE

Christmas Parade

Help us share our Shepherd joy at the McAdory Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 5th! The parade begins at 2:00 and finishes up at the Piggly Wiggly parking lot with a community Christmas Carol Sing-Along and tree lighting along with warm cups of coffee and hot chocolate. Sounds like a great day to be a part of our new community!

Our children will meet before the parade at SVPC at 10:00 for play practice and lunch. The kids will get suited up and we will then head to the parade line-up about 12:30. After the post-parade festivities, we hope to make a visit to one of our members in Letson Farms.

ADVENT BIBLE STUDY

Advent Bible Study starts December 2 at 5:30 PM and will be each Wednesday in December, skipping December 23rd. Under Wraps is the name of the study and it will focus on four characteristics of God as indicated in the OT but lived out through Jesus in the NT. Our first characteristic to study is Expectant. Come unwrap the Gift we never expected!

ALL SAINTS DAY

All Saints Remembrance this Sunday

This Sunday we shall honor all our loved ones who joined the Church Triumphant in the past year. You see this list below of members of Shepherd of the Valley and also friends of our members.

In the Presbyterian tradition, when a Christian dies, we gather to celebrate the resurrection life of our Lord Jesus Christ in the life of our departed loved ones. All Saints Sunday does not so much emphasize the extraordinary achievements of a particular Christian as much as emphasizing the grace and work of the Lord in the lives of ordinary people. The real celebration regards the fact that by God’s Grace He has made us “saints.”

In our lives here, we are saints – “holy” is the meaning of the word “saint” because the Lord has called us, chosen us, and sanctified us both here and in the life to come. We believe that we are surrounded still by that “great cloud of witnesses” who have preceded us into our celestial home.

If you desire to remember a loved one who has died, we invite you to join us at prayer time around the Table of the Lord following the sermon. Come and share this time together.

You may comment and see others’ comments on the previous Sunday’s sermon. This email will only be sent to those who ask to be added to the group. Join the conversation!

CHILDREN'S CATECHISM

Children’s Catechism classes will be starting in September! The catechism is a great program that teaches children to love, serve, and know God. Catechism is a wonderful tool for teaching important information about God and about our rich reformed heritage using a question and answer format. Miss Donna will be teaching our children during the worship hour immediately following the children’s sermon. They will go to the classroom that is right off the narthex by the lobby doors.
